Designed for those seeking employment with us, this comprehensive program not only equips you with life-saving skills but also opens the door to exciting job opportunities upon successful completion.

Who Can Participate:
Open to swimmers aged 15 and above with base access. While the course is available to all, employment opportunities require applicants to be at least 16 years old. If you're in the area, regardless of base access, possessing an American Red Cross Lifeguard certification enhances your eligibility.

Cost:
Absolutely FREE for individuals seeking employment at the Fairchild Aquatics Center.

Course Dates: January 10-14 (No class on January 12) (All course sessions must me attended. Unfortunately, no make-up days are offered.)
January 10: 5-9 pm
January 11: 5-9 pm
January 13: 9 am-5 pm
January 14: 9 am-5 pm

Where:
Fairchild AFB Aquatics Center - Pool (located in the Fitness Complex)

Requirements:
Before registration, a swimming skill pretest is mandatory. To schedule your pretest, call 509-247-2242. The pretest includes:
1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination
of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
3. Complete the below timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
• Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
• Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they can get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance underwater. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
